A PhD graduate with 8 years of professional experiences in the field of microbial biodiversity and bioprospecting., as witnessed by the discovery of two novel extremotolerant Streptomyces species from Indonesian arid sand dune habitat, Streptomyces harenosi (Kusuma et al. 2020, https://doi.org/10.1099/ijsem.0.004346) and Streptomyces sabulosicollis (Kusuma et al. 2021, https://doi-org./10.1007/s10482-021-01564-0) with the capacity to synthesize novel antimicrobial compounds. In addition, as the founder of The Indonesian Centre for Extremophile Bioresources and Biotechnology (ICEBB) in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Technology, Sumbawa University of Technology, Indonesia, I have gained extensive experience to manage the operational work related to the data curation of nomenclatural information for microbial extremophilic bioresources, to perform bioprospecting experiment from the culture collection, to lead the management team of the centre and dealt with various enquiries from academic and industrial partners, including preparing associated legal paperwork about depositing and distributing the microbial strains held in ICEBB that complies with the Nagoya protocol regulation. My previous laboratory demonstrator/teaching assistant in Indonesia, Japan and Newcastle have also provided me with sets of experiences ranging from academic, research to pastoral support for undergraduate and master students. In addition, this post has also equipped me with the good grasp about management of laboratory, as exemplified by stock keeping and supply of reagents and consumables, maintenance of lab equipment and provide an essential training to junior member of staff for conducting experimental work at laboratory.
